First day in Fraser Island

The day before I had booked my two days trip to Fraser Island with a tour called cool dingo. It seems that Fraser Island is home to these animals who you can easily in the island. They are just kind of orange dogs but they can go very vicious at certain times.
We took the ferry and after 40 minutes we reached Fraser. This island made of sand is the biggest one in the whole World. This is probably the most special place in Australia as you can see things that you could not even imagine. Can you imagine a sweet water lake built-up on sand?? First lake we went to was Basil Lake after walking two tracks of around 40 minutes each. Two different rainforest very close one to the other. First one felt kind of dry but second one was very humid. Then we walked to the first settlement of English men back when there were people living here and finally reached the most beautiful lake in Fraser, McKenzie Lake. Beautiful blues mixed in the water, sorrounded by a thick rainforest and again, all that on sand.
It seems that all the sand from erosion was brought around here by the sea and the island started to get made. It's not a small island but 120km large and around 15km width. Then we got back to our bus and the bumpy trip which was an extra cool thing to do! Highways are also made of sand so you'd better come here on a 4x4...
We started drinking at 5pm and kept on until 3am. Before that time I met a couple of Spanish. A guy from Oviedo that was studying in Brisbaine and a guy from Las Palmas who knew someone who knew Ruben Pulido (a work mate). World is very small!!

Hervey Bay, the gateway to Fraser Island

I took the car I hoped not to get lost in the messy Noosa. More than 200 roundabouts in this town make it the Australian city with the biggest number of those...
I made my way to Gympsie and then I reached Hevey Bay. A funny city where the streets seem to be roads. They are so wide that you do not really know if you already got to Hervey Bay.
I found the youth hostel and then went to prepare my dinner. As usual if you want to socialize and meet people just go to the kitchen of the youth hostel at lunch or dinner time. It always works! There I met an English girl and a biology teacher from California with who I had dinner and a nice chat.
All the people I talk to about youth hostel prices say that 28A$ is just OK for a night. I believe most of them have recently been in Asia so they find that just OK. To me that sounds rally cheap when you converte it back to Euros. That would be around 18Eur for a night.... No comments!

Walking through the Noosa National Park

Today was a day walking through a couple of the walking tracks of the Noosa National Park.
It felt great as I walked around 8km in four hours on the coastal walking track and the rainforest walking track. I took my time to take some pictures and enjoy the coast views of this great part of Australia, even though that weather did not help and after three hours it showered like hell. Lucky me, I had my raincoat in my backpack.
After dinner I went to have some beers with Oli and Andy (the guys I had met the day before). We had so much fun playing table tennis...

First laundry in ten days in Noosa...Back to Basics!

I drove through Brisbaine to avoid the toll, not the money (2.5A$) but for the pain as you cannot pay by cash anymore but just electronically. I followed the signs to Sunshine Coast and reached Noosa after heavy rains on my way up.
I found a great youth hostel YHA next to the Noosa National Park.
First thing was to do a laundry after 10 days. It's really felt like going back to basics. Some days wearing the swimmers save you some underwear...
On my way I heard "Santiago". It was Rob who was going to stay in Noosa until Friday.
I went to the wellcome drink for a free glass of wine and to meet new people. It was a great time meeting lots of people from different places. As usual the cultural difference conversations happened and to me, that is always fun.

Surfing at Clark Beach in Byron Bay

I got a bike from the youth hostel and went direction towards the lighthouse. Spectacular sceneric views on the hilly way to the most easterly point of Australia.
I took some pictures of the lighthouse and then I headed back to Byron Bay to get ready for the most exciting thing of the day, surfing.
The instructor gave us a lift to Clar Beach where he gave us some general instructions and the steps to be able to stand on a surfing board.
It becomes kind of hard at the beginning but once you get a bit of a feeling, you catch a good wave and you feel the push from the wave. Then you feel like the king of the Mambo. The sensation is just great!
I loved it and got hooked to it so it's one thing I want to do when I get back to Spain and I hope Anna also join me.
